Joe Fagan is the Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the South of Scotland region. For the personal information we hold about constituents, Joe Fagan MSP is the data controller. 2. The information we collect
When you contact us we may collect your name, contact details and any information you choose to share about your case. Depending on what you need help with, this can include sensitive information such as details of your health, ethnicity or financial circumstances. We only ask for what we need in order to help you.
3. How we use your information
We use your information only to deal with the matter you have raised — for example to take up your case with a public body, government department or other organisation on your behalf. We will not use it for any unrelated purpose, and we will not share it with anyone without your consent unless we are required to do so by law.
4. Our lawful basis
We process your information to carry out a task in the public interest — namely the work of an elected representative. Where we handle sensitive personal information, we do so on the basis that it is necessary for reasons of substantial public interest in connection with the democratic mandate of an elected representative.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your information only for as long as is necessary to deal with your case and to meet our legal obligations, after which it is securely deleted or destroyed.
6. Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to ask us to correct anything that is wrong, and in some circumstances to ask us to delete it or restrict how we use it. To make a request, please contact the office using the details above.
